Who We Are

Since its inception, Princeton Claremont Academy has been committed to developing an academic program that is built on an education model that combines the strengths of the brick and mortar school, technology, on-line and independent learning. It is the opinion of the founders of PCA that the traditional education model does not adequately address the learning needs of the majority of secondary students. The time is right for a new approach to secondary education that creates an environment that gives each student the opportunity to excel.

Students enrolled in PCA, whether they are day school students, home school students, or independent learners, will be given the opportunity to develop their own Personal Academic Plan (PAP). This PAP will be the student’s road map to completing their secondary education. It will address the student’s long-term goals, academic strengths and weaknesses and the time required to complete course requirements. The student will receive support through regular evaluation of their PAP and access to experienced and credentialed faculty when they need it, whether on campus or on line through the school’s academic forums.

PCA offers students a number of academic programs for fulfilling their academic requirements. They may choose one or a combination of the following options:

  • Enrolling as a full-time student at a local PCA campus. In this traditional setting, students attend classes and participate in extracurricular activities with other students. In addition to the normal interaction between students, their parents and campus faculty, students and their parents may also interact with on-line faculty through the Academic Forums of  PCA's on-line school. Campus students may also take an independent study course through PCA's on-line program.
  • Enrolling in PCA’s on line diploma program. Students choosing this option work independently, have access to on-line faculty and may transfer a limited number of credits to PCA On-Line. This program is suited for students who are home schooled or stationed overseas
  • Enrolling in one or more courses as an independent learner in PCA’s on-line portfolio review program. The portfolio review program grants credit transferrable to PCA and other approved high schools. This program is designed for students that need to make up one or more credits to graduate from their local high school or earn a diploma from PCA.

Students choosing one of the on-line academic program options may also apply to participate in PCA’s extra-curricular programs.
